Designed for use on solar systems, this valve is used to divert water back to a secondary heat source if the water is not at the required temperature.
Works by recognising the temperature flowing through it: if it is above the preset level then it goes direct to the distribution system, if not, it is diverted to the secondary heat source to be heated to the correct temperature.

For England and Wales, from 1 April 2010, revisions to Part G of the Building Regulations (Hot water supply and systems) include the requirement that baths in new homes are fitted with a protective device (i.e. a thermostatic mixing valve) to limit the temperature of hot water. Regulations have been in force in Scotland since 2006.
